How To Setup WooCommerce for WordPress
Step 1 : Install and Activate WooCommerce
The first thing you must do is to install the WooCommerce plugin. You can download it from your WordPress repository and can Upload it to your site. Or navigate through your WordPress dashboard and go to the Plugins>> Add New.
Type WocComerce in the Search Bar; by this time, the WooCommerce plugin will be visible to you. Just click on the Install button. Once the installation process is completed, Activate the plugin.
Step 2: Store Profiler Setup
Once the plugin is activated, you will see a series of processes that guide you through setting up the WooCommerce store. This setup wizard is optional, but we recommend you follow the steps in a wizard.
WooCommerce asks you to enter some basic details regarding your store like its address, location, postal code, and what currency you would like to use. Just some random information regarding the store. Do keep in mind the details that you enter here can be easily altered in WooCommerce settings if required.
Here you need to select for which industry your store operates in. Like Fashion, Electronics and etc. If you choose Other you can add details inside a text box.
Select the product type which you are planning to sell and showcase on your site. If you choose a paid product, you can easily purchase it later in the wizard.
In this section, you can tell more about your business in detail, like if you already own a store, or are you selling currently, or how many products you are planning to display on your website.
Few marketing tools are listed which you can easily install and will help you to grow your business.
Choose how your store appears to your customers. Choose your current theme if you already have, or choose from some WooCommerce specific free or paid theme.
After this you will be promoted to set up Jetpack for your store. It is necessary if you want to enable automated sales taxes and payment gateways for your store.
Moreover, Jetpack also provides you with additional features like improved speed, better security, store monitoring and management, and many more. If you want to skip this process, click on No Thanks.
Step3: Adding Products
Once you complete the Store Profiler setup, you are redirected to other necessary steps required to set up the store. In this step, you can add products to your store, add products manually, or import products from a CSV file. Select Migrate if you want to migrate your store from another location.
Step 4: Setup Payment Modes
In this step, you can activate your store’s payment mode, set up online or offline payment options to accept payment. You can set up payment gateways for accounts like Stripe, PayPal, and Razorpay, and of course, you can enable the Cash On Delivery and Direct Bank Transfer option. For online payment gateways, WooCommerce helps you to create payment accounts for them directly.
Step 5: Setup Taxes
If you have already entered your Store Details you can directly click on the Configure option to Configure Tax Rates.
Click on the Insert Row button and add the taxation details corresponding to the country where your store will be delivering.
Step 6: Shipping Method
This is the final step towards setting up the WooCommerce Store.
Here you can enter an amount the customers will be charged for shipping. You can set the shipping rate for the customers in your preferred shipping zone and those situated far away.
That’s it; your WooCommerce store is now ready to grab customers. The best part of creating an e-commerce store using WooCommerce is you can easily style your website the way you like without going deeper. Moreover, you can also personalize your store by adding a home page and your store logo.
